Single Origin - Rwanda - Ibisi Mountain
Just down the winding road from Rwanda’s Nyungwe Forest — one of the most biologically rich rainforests in Africa — sits the Ibisi Mountain Hills washing station. Founded in 2015 by local entrepreneur Bernard Uwitije, this station was born out of a bold shift: from commodity coffee to quality-driven, fully washed and natural lots. It was a bet on the potential of the land — and it paid off.
This coffee is vibrant and complex, with bright orange zest up front, soft brown sugar sweetness, and a rhubarb tang that keeps the cup alive as it cools. It’s juicy, structured, and layered — equal parts comforting and refreshing. Whether you’re brewing as a pourover or drip, it’s a crowd-pleaser with just enough edge to keep you intrigued.
Bernard’s journey into specialty coffee wasn’t just about better flavor — it was about building something lasting in his home region. Today, Ibisi is not just a washing station. It’s a hub for smallholder producers, a source of economic growth, and a symbol of how vision and quality can uplift an entire community.
We’re proud to share this coffee with you — not just for how it tastes, but for what it represents: care, craft, and a partnership rooted in purpose.
