French Press

What you’ll need: French press, burr grinder, kettle, timer, scale, spoon
Grind Size: Coarse (like sea salt)
Coffee to Water Ratio: 1 g coffee to 15–18 g water (stronger at 1:15, lighter at 1:18)
Water Temperature: 195 to 205 °F
Our Ideal Roast Level: Medium to medium-dark

Steps:

  1. Preheat & Measure: Heat your press with hot water and discard. Weigh about 30 g coffee and 450 g water.
  2. Add & Bloom: Add coffee and pour 60 g water to saturate the grounds. Let bloom for 30 seconds.
  3. Stir & Steep: Stir gently, top off with the remaining water. Place the lid on with plunger up and steep for 4 minutes.
  4. Plunge & Pour: Press slowly over 20 seconds. Serve immediately to avoid over-extraction.

Tip: Stir halfway through steeping for even extraction. Decant if you’re not drinking right away to prevent bitterness.

Pour Over (V60)

Clean, crisp, and customizable, the V60 lets you fine-tune your brew with precision. It’s a favorite among coffee nerds, barista champions, and home brewers alike for its ability to highlight delicate flavor notes.

What you’ll need: V60 dripper, paper filter, gooseneck kettle, scale, timer
Grind Size: Medium-fine (like table salt)
Coffee to Water Ratio: 1 g coffee to 16 g water
Water Temperature: 195 to 205 °F
Our Ideal Roast Level: Light to medium

Steps:

  1. Prep Filter
  2. Add Grounds & Bloom
  3. Pour in Stages
  4. Drain & Serve

Tip: Slow, spiral pours help extract sweetness and clarity. Fast pours can disrupt the bed and lead to uneven flavors.

Chemex

Elegant in both form and flavor, the Chemex brews a clean and bright cup with incredible clarity. Its thick filters remove oils and fine particles, making it perfect for showcasing nuanced single origins.

What you’ll need: Chemex, bonded filter, gooseneck kettle, scale, timer
Grind Size: Medium-coarse
Coffee to Water Ratio: 1 g coffee to 15 g water
Water Temperature: 195 to 205 °F
Our Ideal Roast Level: Medium-light to medium

Steps:

  1. Prep Filter
  2. Add Coffee & Bloom
  3. Pour Carefully
  4. Finish & Serve

Tip: Chemex filters are thick, which gives this brewing method its signature clarity. Use a slightly coarser grind and pour gently to prevent stalling.

Batch Brew

Classic, consistent, and convenient, the drip coffee machine is a staple for a reason. It’s ideal for brewing multiple cups with minimal effort and no fuss.

What you’ll need: Automatic drip machine, medium grind, paper filter, filtered water
Grind Size: Medium
Coffee to Water Ratio: 1 g coffee to 16–18 g water
Water Temperature: 195 to 205 °F
Our Ideal Roast Level: Medium

Steps:

  1. Prep & Load
  2. Add Water
  3. Brew & Serve

Tip: Use a thermal carafe instead of the hot plate to avoid bitter, overcooked flavors.

Espresso

Small but mighty, espresso delivers intense flavor in just 25–30 seconds. It’s the heart of your favorite café drinks and an art form in its own right.

What you’ll need: Espresso machine, fine espresso grind, portafilter, tamper, scale, timer
Grind Size: Fine
Coffee to Water Ratio: 18 g coffee to 36–40 g espresso
Water Temperature: 195 to 205 °F
Our Ideal Roast Level: Medium to medium-dark

Steps:

  1. Dose & Distribute
  2. Tamp Firmly
  3. Pull Shot
  4. Stop & Serve

Tip: A balanced espresso should be sweet and rich, with crema on top. Adjust grind if shots are too fast or too slow.

Cold Brew

Smooth, sweet, and low in acidity, cold brew is made for slow sips and hot days. It’s brewed without heat, which means it’s mellow, strong, and fridge-friendly.

What you’ll need: Coarse grounds, pitcher or jar, cheesecloth or sieve, fridge
Grind Size: Coarse
Coffee to Water Ratio: 1 cup coffee to 4 cups water
Water Temperature: Room temperature or cold
Our Ideal Roast Level: Medium-dark

Steps:

  1. Mix & Steep
  2. Strain
  3. Serve
  4. Store

Tip: Cold brew is forgiving but benefits from good beans and long extraction. Try 16 hours for a balanced profile.

Aeropress

Quick, portable, and endlessly flexible, the Aeropress makes a delicious cup just about anywhere. It’s great for travel, experimentation, or just getting creative with your morning routine.

What you’ll need: Aeropress, paper filter, medium-fine grind, kettle, timer
Grind Size: Medium-fine
Coffee to Water Ratio: 15 g coffee to 200 g water
Water Temperature: 175 to 205 °F
Our Ideal Roast Level: Light to medium

Steps:

  1. Prep
  2. Add Coffee & Water
  3. Stir & Steep
  4. Press
  5. Clean Up

Tip: The inverted method gives a fuller body. Adjust grind and water to customize the cup.

Siphon

Half science experiment, half art, siphon brewing is as beautiful to watch as it is to drink. Expect a clean, tea-like cup with sparkling clarity and aroma.

What you’ll need: Siphon brewer, heat source, fine-medium grind, timer, scale
Grind Size: Fine-medium
Coffee to Water Ratio: 1 g coffee to 15 g water
Water Temperature: Heat water until it rises, brew around 200 °F
Our Ideal Roast Level: Medium

Steps:

  1. Assemble & Heat
  2. Stir & Brew
  3. Remove Heat
  4. Serve

Tip: Siphon brewing gives you a crisp, tea-like clarity. Maintain steady heat and precise timing for best results.
